Dear Rose-Dore,
It's almost Mother's Day. This holiday, if you don't know, has been a U.S. holiday since 1914. On May 12, 1907, two years after her mother's death, West Virginian Anna Marie Jarvis held a memorial to her mother and thereafter embarked on a campaign mission to make "Mother's Day" a recognized holiday. She succeeded in making this day nationally recognized on the dawn of WWI. The International Mother's Day Shrine was established in Grafton, West Virginia to commemorate her achievement. Anna Jarvis never married and had no children. She died in poverty in Pennsylvania. So, think of Anna Jarvis as you celebrate Mother's Day this year!
Happy Mother's Day to all our moms, grandmothers and aunts.

Mother's Day is May 9th and there is no better gift for mom than a Rose-Dore gift certificate. Treat her to a manicure/pedicure or a massage. Even better, why not give her both? A gift certificate for a cut and color is always appreciated. You can even pick-up some of our great Aveda products for her. Best of all, why not schedule an appointment for the two of you to come in together for services and have a Mother-Daughter Day Out? She's worth it!

If you have fine, limp hair, try our new Aveda Light Elements products that we introduced to you last month. Our stylists are very pleased with the weightless texture of the products and believe they work extremely well for fine, limp hair. Pick up Light Elements Texturizing Creme or Light Elements Shaping Wax the next time you are in the salon. We think you will be pleased. |
Shakeology - The Healthiest Meal of the Day
I have recently discovered an incredible new nutritional product. It is called Shakeology and I have been drinking it for a few weeks now. Most of you know that I am a certified nutrition and wellness consultant and I am not a big believer in supplements and fad diets. Shakeology has given me an incredible amount of energy and is loaded with fantastic ingredients. Nutrition has never tasted so good. They have combined 70 natural ingredients to provide your body with the nutrients it needs. You would have to eat a whole bowl of fruits and vegetables to equal one serving of Shakeology. Replace one meal a day (I recommend breakfast or lunch) with Shakeology to help you lose weight, increase regularity and have more energy. Shakeology contains: protein, essential amino acids, antioxidants, digestive enzymes, prebiotics, vitamins, minerals, phytonutrients, and no caffeine or gluten. We all seem to have busy lifestyles and don't always put wellness at the top of the list. I highly recommend that anyone interested In Shakeology check out the Shakeology Web site. I can arrange for a sample and answer any of your questions. Several stylists at the salon will be using Shakeology and can tell you how they feel about it. I am planning on Saturday Shakeology tastings this summer. Shakeology is economical because it is a meal replacement and costs about $4.00 a meal. You may also order it at www.myshakeology.com/slim4unow.

We're Going to the Dogs...
Rose-Dore Salon is going to the dogs. We are happy to support the American Cancer Society's newest event, Bark for Life, a dog walk to celebrate the wonderful contribution our furry four-legged friends make to our lives, especially when we are going through our roughest times! Please join our staff in this charity effort and spend a day in the park with your best friend. There will be a nice paved path to stroll with your pet, demonstrations of fun activities you and your dog can enjoy together, games for you to compete in with your dog and sponsors will be available with products and services to care for and pamper your pooch. There will also be a silent auction with some awesome items. Stop by the Rose-Dore and register for Bark for Life or just make a contribution. We are also accepting dog food, treats and pet supplies to distribute to the rescue groups and shelters that will be at the event. Bark for Life Sunday, May 16th West Park (116th & Township Line Road) We hope you will join us and our furry friends for this event. If you don't have a dog or if you have room in your home and heart for another one, you might find your new family member at Bark for Life and help a great cause at the same time. Here are few photos of the Rose-Dore family pets! Rose, Doreen, Matt, Scott, Nan, Lori, Vivian and Lora are the parents of these pups. Can you match the dog with the owner? Please note: some stylists have more than one furry friend. We'll reveal the answers next month.
