| Dear Rose-Dore,
It's time for the State Fair. Do you remember going to the State or county fair when you were a kid? All the sights and sounds of summer in the midwest surrounded you. There was the smell of popcorn, corn dogs and burgers mixed with the sometimes overwhelming scent of livestock. No matter what, we loved these summer celebrations.
August 15th is the Colts first pre-season game. Super Bowl here we come! Let's hope for another great, injury-free season. GO COLTS! Most children will be going back to school in the next couple of weeks. Please watch for them and remember that school buses will be back on the streets. You'll find some tips below about getting back to school hairstyles for the kids. Please supervise your children when you bring them with you to the salon. For the comfort of our other clients and the safety of your children, please do not leave them unsupervised at any time. When a child visits the restroom, we ask that he or she be accompanied by an adult. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation. We've been nominated for the A-List and would appreciate your vote. As small business people, it is always great to be recognized for what you do. We've included a link to voting below. Enjoy the fleeting weeks of summer. Doreen & Rose

The end result is smooth, healthy, frizz-free hair with radiant shine. You can see some before and after examples below. The entire treatment, which uses no harsh chemicals or formaldehyde, is completed in just 90 minutes and last up to 12 weeks! Back to School Hairstyles
Depending on the age of your children, in the middle of buying school supplies and new clothes, many of you are thinking about back to school hairstyles. For younger children all you often need is a cut to clean up a shaggy summer look. But for tweens and teens, you'll want something that is easy to maintain but trendy. These children will have very specific ideas about their hair so you may need to compromise a bit. A conversation with your child before you get to the salon is probably a good idea to make sure you are on the same page. Because school photos are usually taken soon after school begins, think about how you want your child's hair to look for those all important pictures.

Get Great Jewelry and Benefit Children
According to the United Nations, there are an estimated 120 million street children in the world. We are selling jewelry in the salon to benefit some of these children. The sale of the jewelry, made in Uganda, directly benefits children living in the streets in the Kisenyi and Kivulu slums of Kampal, Uganda. The money is used by Hope for Street Children in two ways, to take care of children still living on the streets and to help take them home whenever possible, For the street children programs the profit from the necklaces is used to rent rooms for the children to sleep in at night, medicine to treat their wounds, to buy food and hire women to cook for the boys, take children to the hospital when they are really sick and purchase the kids clothing and shoes when they really need it. For the resettlement programs the money is used to take street children who want to be reunited with their families home, purchase for the children all of their clothing, school supplies, toiletries, linens, and anything that they may need and then accompanied by one or two of the social workers who has been working with that child in the slums, take them home. A small gift is purchased for the child's family and some chickens or rabbits are bought to keep the child busy and give them a way to earn a little money and therefore an incentive not to run away again. Hope for Street Children also pays for the child's next semester of school fees and tries to continue to return and pay the fees each term. For more information, go to www.hopeforstreetchildren.com.
