April is Earth Month. It is important that each of us do individually what we can to protect the earth. One of the reasons we choose to use Aveda products in the salon is because they are environmentally friendly. The mission at Aveda is to care for the world we live in, from the products they make to the ways in which they give back to society. Aveda sets an example for environmental leadership and responsibility - "not just in the world of beauty, but around the world".

On a smaller scale, we recycle at the salon and we encourage you to do the same. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.

Take the family and visit Earth Day Indiana, a free outdoor festival, on Saturday, April 23, 2011, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Celebration Plaza in White River State Park. Rose-Dore stylist Tonya was featured in the March issue of Indianapolis Woman magazine. Tonya, who is a survivor of domestic violence, candidly shared her story as a way of helping other women.

Be a Water Warrior

Aveda reports that every 21 seconds in this world a child dies from lack of clean water. In this country we are blessed that most of us have an unlimited supply of clean water but that could change. What can you do?

Make a donation to support your local clean water partner
Support organic farming - pesticides are one of the largest sources of water pollution
Conserve electricity - every kilowatt hour we use takes about two gallons of water to make
Eat less meat - it takes up to 5000 gallons of water to produce one pound of meat.
